Assad Elected to SBM Governing Council

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Foster Swift attorney, Melanie A. Assad, was unanimously elected to the State Bar of Michigan’s Litigation Section Governing Council during their recent annual meeting.

The Litigation Section of the State Bar of Michigan provides education, information and analysis about issues of concern through meetings, seminars, their site, public service programs, and newsletter publications.

A graduate of the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, Melanie is a litigator with the firm's Grand Rapids office where she handles a wide range of insurance defense matters, as well as other civil litigation cases. In her practice, she:

• Handles and defends high-volume caseload, including PIP, third-party bodily injury, and UM/UIM cases.
• Handles premises liability and products liability cases.
• Appears at facilitation, settlement conferences, and motion hearings.
• Conducts legal research, draft motions, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, deposition summaries, reports, and correspondence.
