GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Foster Swift Collins & Smith PC is pleased to announce the arrival of Karl W. Butterer as a senior attorney for the law firm's Grand Rapids office and a member of the General Litigation Practice Group. Prior to joining Foster Swift, Butterer practiced at Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge, P.C., in Grand Rapids, since 1994.
Butterer is an established and successful litigator, with more than 15 years of highly successful legal experience representing governmental entities, manufacturers, small businesses, hospitals, and large corporations. Currently, he concentrates his practice in the areas of torts, civil rights, employment, contract disputes, and commercial litigation. Butterer, Jr. has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell, as he has been given the top AV Peer Review Rating.
Butterer is a graduate of the University of Michigan and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Indiana University School of Law. He currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee for the Litigation Section of the Grand Rapids Bar Association. He previously served on its Board of Trustees and Chaired the Membership Services Committee. In addition, he represented the 17th Circuit as elected representative to the State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly.
