International Trade In Arms (ITAR) Overview

This introductory session was geared for individuals who have questions about what "ITAR Compliant" or "ITAR Certified" means as well as concerns about who needs to register and the process for registration. Topics covered included:

• "ITAR Compliant" and "ITAR Certified" definitions
• Identifying who must register with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls 
• Pointers on how to complete the required form
• Compliance issues for dealing with US Munitions List articles, tech or services.  (For example, plant tours involving foreign persons or tech data stored or passing through a foreign server may be an export in some situations.)
• Penalties for non-compliance
• Registration as a requirement in order to apply for licenses to export
