In the United States, exporting is a privilege and not a right. A business' opportunity to pursue global markets can be denied or taken away if the organization fails to comply with the regulations, procedures and practices relevant to their products or services.
This third and final webinar in the Exporting Series provided participants a framework of the legal, regulatory and licensing considerations they must incorporate as they develop and implement their export program. It included an overview of export controls under U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) regulations (Export Administration Regulations - EAR), and U.S. Department of Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations as well as U.S. Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls regulations (International Traffic in Arms Regulations ITAR).
Also covered was the importance of planning, compliance, and preventative strategies, including resources to monitor in order to stay abreast of changing regulations in order to preserve your privilege to export.
