Matthew Murray is an attorney with the litigation practice group in the Southfield office of Foster Swift where he represents and advocates for his clients in the areas of:

Matthew has demonstrated his legal prowess by conducting comprehensive research across various practice areas and gaining a wealth of knowledge through hands-on experience in the federal systems. This includes a month-long criminal trial, becoming a leader in a new Federal Sentencing Guideline and succeeding in several motions under the new guideline.

His ability to distill complex legal issues into succinct and informative legal memorandums showcases his proficiency and attention to detail. His dedication to helping clients avoid potential litigation showcases his commitment to not only defend but also prevent legal challenges.

Matthew’s passion for the legal field is further exemplified by his service on the Board of the Federalist Society, Michigan Lawyers Chapter. This affiliation highlights his engagement with legal discourse and his dedication to staying informed about the evolving legal landscape.

Matthew interned with the State of Michigan Governor’s Office of Urban and Metropolitan Initiatives while he pursued a B.A. in Political Science at Michigan State University. This experience pivoted Matthew’s career towards the legal field, feeling his skills would be best suited to support those who had been affected by injustices of the system.

After completing his undergraduate degree, Matthew began working toward his Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. During this time, Matthew was a judicial extern to the Honorable Judge Sean F. Cox at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. During this time, he was able to attend virtual hearing and gain firsthand insights into the intricacies of criminal and civil matters.
